A public resource.
A longer view
of our rivers.
Pani Ki Kahani is a public-purpose initiative of Krishadri Foundation, bringing river knowledge into a shared space for understanding, collaboration and better decisions.
Keep the knowledge.
Deepen the conversation.
Across India, people hold different parts of a river’s story. Scientists study its processes. Communities live with its changes. Practitioners work to protect it. Public institutions make decisions that shape its future.
We bring these perspectives together through an existing archive of river writing and a network of river portals. Our purpose is to make this knowledge more accessible and useful to the people working for healthier rivers and water systems.
Begin with the river.
Understand the particular landscape, its history and the people who depend on it. Keep local voices and languages within the conversation.
Keep the source in view.
Preserve authorship and context. Make room for scientific inquiry, community knowledge and thoughtful disagreement.
Make understanding useful.
Connect research and lived experience to practical questions of water governance, ecology and public policy.
Build something that lasts.
An archive, a useful explanation and a working relationship can continue to serve a river long after a particular campaign has passed.
Part of Krishadri
Foundation.
Krishadri Foundation works at the intersection of public-purpose research, open knowledge and practical systems. Pani Ki Kahani carries this purpose into rivers and water landscapes.
Good knowledge deserves
an enduring home.
Help preserve river memory, make research more accessible and connect people working for healthier water systems.
